I guess I'll start by telling my story of where I was at and where I am now in regards to my weight loss journey.
I separated from the Air Force September of 2007 and I weighed a whopping 183 pounds. I only have myself to blame. I led a careless lifestyle of partying all night, drinking too much, eating like crap and failing to exercise. I moved to Wyoming to live with my now husband, who has always been incredibly fit and trim. I struggled with my weight over the next 4 years, yo-yoing all over the place.
Finally in January of 2010, I had caught a good pace and lowered my weight to 163. I was on a great path and had finally hit a good stride. I bet you can guess what happened next.....
BAM! Pregnant. Of course we were thrilled and I focused on healthy eating for me and the baby. Since I ended up being diagnosed with Gestational Diabetes, I only gained 25 pounds during the pregnancy. I ate healthy and never caved to late night pregnancy cravings.
I gave birth to a beautiful baby girl on October 6th, 2010 and 6 weeks later I weighed in at 175 pounds. I let myself stay there for way longer than I liked to admit. Between being a new mother and finishing my Bachelors degree, I really let my own personal issues fall to the side.
I got a wake up call about 3 months ago. I was starting to become breathless and dizzy while climbing the stairs. My blood sugar would drop and I would almost pass out. I was scared that I was going to end up with diabetes. The doctor told me that I needed to take care of myself and loss weight. I thought about what not taking care of myself would mean to our daughter, and I decided that it would not be fair to her either. I want to be a healthy role model for her and so that's what I set out to do.
The beginning of March I began my quest for a new healthy lifestyle. I began my journey with a 1 week juice cleanse which really kick started my weight loss process. I began that cleanse at 165 and ended it around 160. Shortly after that I began a new way of eating. I try to eat lots of protein, fresh vegetables and fruits and smart grain choices. I use myfitnesspal to log all of my information each day and it really does help to keep me on track. I try to not eat any fried, fatty and processed foods if I can help it. I feel active, healthy and amazing to say the least. I began Beach Body's program Insanity 5 weeks ago and man what I fantastic workout. My stamina is increases, my muscles are showing themselves and I feel strong! What a great way to get in shape at home.
Today I weigh 149 and I'm pretty dang proud of myself, and I have lost several inches along the way as well. I will post a before and after once I complete the program in 4 weeks as I am eager to share the results because it really works!
Well thanks for taking the time to read this entry and I look forward to hearing from you and sharing ore success along the way!
